Online Store Workshops - your chance to have your say into the furture direction of the Online Store

WPM recently held six regional user workshops to allow users to provide their input into the future direction of the Online Store. These workshops were held in London, Bristol, Leicester, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh to try to give all users a reasonable chance to attend.

The focus of the workshops was on both the administration area of the Online Store, and the development of a Graduation Ceremonies module.

The workshop sessions were very informal with the focus being on getting user feedback rather than WPM listing changes that were planned. This led to a number of interesting discussions and meant that each location brought up a slightly different set of requirements and sometimes approaches.

The feedback we have received indicates users largely found the sessions very useful, often to just see how others were using the same system. We plan on providing all attendees and existing users a summary of the points raised and allowing online feedback to gauge where development resources should be prioritised.

We hope to make smaller changes to the administration area throughout the year, with a major overhaul in place for the start of 2011. The Graduation Ceremonies module is planned to be completed for the middle of 2010.

Overall we had more than 60 participants from over 30 institutions, which we feel is a great indicator of the enthusiasm within the user base to contribute to the evolution of the system.

We would very much encourage anyone who has not been able to attend one of these events before to make the time to do so as this allows your voice to be heard and help build a better product for everyone.
